What is an Astrologer?

An Astrologer is a person who can read the planetary energies and their positions in your birth chart.  An Astrologer can in some way relate the astrological positions to a certain subject of life depending on your needs at the time.  The Astrologer will decide which system to use. There are many ways in which this can be done.  Astrology is divided into branches, systems and techniques.  I will attempt to list some of the differences here but keep in mind that every individual has their own unique abilities, preferences, house system, techniques, and experiences.  The following is simply a list of Horoscopic Astrology, or Western-Modern traditions.

 Why do I need an Astrologer?

Natal Astrology- In Natal astrology, we look at your birth chart and find your strengths and weakness's to better help guide your course. There are many benefits to meeting with an Astrologer. An Astrologer can tell you about any area of your life and what is going on with it. Here is a short list of possibilities. Life, Finance, Beliefs, Mentality, Education, Family, Roots, Romance, Entertainment, Children, Work, Health, Relationships, Lovers, Debts, Sex, Subjects of Occult, Religion, Philosophy, Travel, Career, Reputation, Goals, Groups, Friends, Subconscious, Dreams, Self. Believe me when I say, this is a short list. If you have trouble a competent Astrologer can help you find a way out and at the very least give you a time line to when this energy will have resolution.

Electional Astrology- This is the type of astrology used to forecast a date in the future that will be the best time for the event in question. Such as finding a good time to marry, to fill out an application for a job, to starting a business or scheduling a surgery. Timing is everything and if you can plan it, you should have astrology on your side.

Horary Astrology- It is said that the answer to a question lies in the time the question is manifest, meaning the time the Astrologer understands it. This astrology is excellent for burning questions. The question has to be asked in a yes or no manner. The chart derived will give specific details about the situation along with the answer.

Predictive Astrology- The following is a list of ways that an Astrologer can look into the future. If we can see the cycles of the past and how they have affected a person or event, then we can use that data to make probable guesses for the future. There are many variables, these methods should be better used to help "direct" rather than "predict" the outcome of any given situation. This is where astrology can really help guide you to make the most out of the currents and cycles that you are in now, or that will be coming in the future.

Transits- The current planetary motions used for daily horoscopes and in combination to many methods.

Returns- Drawing a chart for the day a planet returns to it's position in your birth chart, used mainly for monthly or yearly forecasts

Progressions- The slow unfoldment of your birth chart over time

Arc Directions- Used to show major periods of life changes, easy to see from the natal chart

Evolutionary Astrology- This is the branch of astrology that is aimed at spiritual purposes. These Astrologer's specialize in past lives, spiritual direction, and soul's lessons.

Psychological Astrology- Psychology plus Astrology, counselors, consultants, advisors those who have studied psychological motivations using the planetary cycles and can help you understand the roots of your motivation and to unfold them and find ways to deal with these issues.

Medical Astrology- For help with a diagnosis that a doctor can't seem to find. Also good for preventative maintenance. Before there were physicians, there were only Astrologers.

Mundane Astrology- This is a division of Astrology that is devoted to world trends, political happenings, famous persons, or people of influence.

Locational Astrology- Also known as Astrogeography or Astrocartography. This type of astrology analyzes the effects and correlations of planetary energies at specific locations on the Earth.

Relationship Astrology- The following are four of the methods of chart comparison's. Each Astrologer has their favorite way of comparing charts, but they are all geared at understanding the dynamics of a relationship.

These are used in a similar manner as a natal of the relationship.

Synastry- Compares the planetary positions of the two charts

Biwheels- Puts one chart inside of the other to see how one affects the other and vice-versa

These two are also used as a relationship natal, but also can be used to find the future of the relationship when paired with predictive techniques!

Davison- Finds an entirely new chart derived from the middle of the time and space of the two birth's

Composite- Combines the two charts to find the middle planetary positions
